Got these for my home office. They are great for more subtle lighting when I don??t want the Overhead lights heating up the space. The remote works fine and the app is also user friendly.

I really wanted to like these. Physically they look smart; would be easy to link multiple strips together – which I was hoping for.
Unfortunately: that’s all the good that I can say. Two sections of the strips have color problems (like some of the colors don’t work); notice in the picture that while the strip should have been warm white/orange; some were only green. A different section had a different color problem (so the didn’t happen at the same time).
It’s likely just a bad strip/batch; but there’s larger problems. The unit has no memory. If you set it to a color or scene; when you turn it back on it’s no longer that setting or color. So each time you’d have to re-change it to be the effect you wanted. That makes it almost useless to me.
The other problem is that while it may be Alexa compatible (I didn’t try that after finding out it wouldn’t work for my needs); voice (Alexa/Google) can’t set it to a scene. Only a solid color. That almost defeats the purpose of having color-changing!
This will be going back.

Can these be used with a switched outlet? If so, will turning the outlet off delete any settings or require the settings to need to be reset?
Answer: Yes, they can be used with a switched outlet, and no, they stay at whatever you had them set at when you turned off the switch.

What is the difference between the tape16/rgbw/ag/rp and this model?
