These are great. I have a 3 car garage with lots of stored items. I would go out to the garage and the motion detector would turn on the garage door light and I would get to working in the back of garage and they would click off. Now, I just say, Alexa turn on lights and it does. I have an Alexa in my garage so it works that way for me. I can use Alexa to tune to a radio station, too, which is great during storms, since my storm shelter is in the garage. What I don??t like, is if the powers goes off and comes back on at the house, they turn on and stay on. So, if you are not home, they are wasting energy. Or, if you are out of town and you check app, you will see they are on, which is creepy because you don??t know if power outage cut them off; or if a ghost turned them on; or worse an intruder.

I like these Geeni bulbs when they work. We have them hooked up with Alexa for voice control. Tonight, the Geeni service went down again. It was just for a short time, but it was when we needed them most (toddler’s bedtime routine). We have one of the lights right outside his bedroom and wanted Alexa to turn it off. She was not able to contact the Geeni server.
In the 3 months since installing these bulbs, Geeni has gone down several times at night, forcing me to turn them off manually. This is too frequent to be acceptable. I don’t like that I cannot depend on these lights. I’m going back to Wemo and KASA. Both are more reliable and downtime is very rare.
UPDATE: 1/15/19 – I continue to be frustrated with my Geeni bulbs. Disabling the Alexa Skill and re-enabling it did not solve my problem. Just tonight, one of them did not turn off via voice command to Alexa. I went onto my iPhone Alexa app and toggled the light on and off in order to get it unstuck.

Noted base of bulb gets relatively hot. Should I be concerned about this? What sort of protections are there for over heating?
Hi Alexander, thank you for contacting Geeni technical support. Actually it is normal for the bulbs to become hot since it was plug in to a power source but not as hot like it was overheating. In this case, we highly suggest to use other socket and observe it first and if the issue still persist you can call us at +1 (??
