About a year ago almost now, I got my first smart device which was an Echo plus to go with my Amazon Prime account. From there, I got a Google home, a Home mini, and an Echo Dot (3rd gen) as well as a couple Amazon Smart plugs for the bedside lights in the bedroom.

I had started seeing more and more Reviews for the Geeni bulbs (Merkury) on Youtube and decided to first get one from Walmart this year to try it.

What I like:
Bulb has a nice set of features such as colors, dimmable, (the Prisma Plus) tunable white temp.
With the Colors, they aren’t as bright as the white mode, however they are good color saturation, and have plenty of color variations to choose from. I especially like these bulb’s color modes, because they are good for night when you might want softer light to see by, but not so bright it blinds you, or may keep you awake.

The bulbs from Walmart are a 75w equiv, without the tunable white, but the colors are the same. The Prisma Plus is a 60w equiv and has the tunable white as well as the colors.

I live in a one bedroom apartment, and these bulbs were reasonably priced so I was able to put one in most of my most used lamps / fixtures to get a good feel for smart lighting.

If you’re just starting out, I would start here, then, decide if you need, or want features of the more expensive brands. For me, at this point in time, I might get a more expensive bulb to try at some point, but I don’t feel like I really need to as these do the core functions I was looking for.

I purchased a 4 pack of Geeni flood lights & a 4 pack of Geeni light bulbs in Jan 2021 & in June 2021, 2 of the flood lights & 2 of the light bulbs quit syncing. I contacted support…. At first they said it was it was my wifi & then they wanted me to remove all 8 of the light bulbs from the fixture & from the app. (We had already done this before calling support) then my call was lost & we never completed all troubleshooting steps…. And now the bulbs that will not sync & keep flashing until you have the app connect with each unsynced light. But the lights still will not sync. 🙁 I purchased another brand gosund at the same time & when I had the same problem with their lights, support was helpful & replaced the defective light.

What is the difference between geeni prisma bulbs and geeni prisma plus bulbs?
Answer: I believe the “Plus” series are brighter colors and and white can be tuned.

Will this work with a 5 gh internet service? the other one i bought only works with 2 gh.
Answer: Mine only works with 2ghz

Do these work as ceiling fan lights for a bedroom?
Answer: As long as your ceing fan accepts standard size bulbs and not the candleabra size bulbs.

How do I set these to turn on a certain time then turn off a certain time ?
Answer: There is an application you download to a device. It allows you to control the bulbs colour, tone and brightness as well as set a schedule.
