I used this as an LED backlight for our television. The silicone cover was overkill for this need, but was easy enough to work with after watching a few online videos and a little practice. Of course I had to cut and splice four sections with three connectors purchased from another vendor on Amazon. Splices were necessary to keep the LED strip near the edges of the TV. The adhesion was great with 3M tape on the back of the strip. I needed a little extra to get the controller and remote antenna portions to stay where I wanted them. A little better planning might have eliminated that need.

My spouse was initially not impressed, but to be honest I think she has warmed up to the backlight effect a little as time has passed. Integration with SmartThings was easy. I was especially pleased with the ability to have the strip turn on and off with the TV. I would do this again.

For any using for a similar purpose, get the 6 pack of 12mm 6 wire connectors and make sure to have a 2nd person to help support the transfer to back of the TV. Taking the TV off the wall would make this easier and probably a one person job, although in my case removing the TV from the wall takes two people so it was a wash in that respect.

Bottom line is I am happy with the results. The only thing that could be improved is for Meross to include, or even sell the connectors as an add-on for an additional price.

UPDATE (original review below)

I decided to try another of these thinking that maybe just maybe I got a lemon… I did not… The second is the same as the first and will NOT connect to their app… I cannot stress just how horrible their application is… It is essentially useless and you may as well not install it at all as it does nothing for you…

I decided to try a workaround with this thing which is to plug it into a “smart outlet” which I can add/control using my Apple Home app… That way I can create automations for the LED strip (turn it on/off based on certain criteria)…

This is NOT ideal as the power adapter for the strip itself is quite large and the smart outlet is also quite large so if you can’t hide it somehow (we were able to do so), it is extremely unsightly and not something you want visible to guests (or yourselves for that matter)…

Anyway – if you don’t mind the workaround approach – you may want to purchase this and give it a try. Otherwise – skip it and try a different brand because their app is total garbage and quite frankly should be a source of embarrassment for Meross…

I’m sad to write this review because I have multiple other Meross devices and they all (for the most part) have worked flawlessly… Outside of the occasional “no response” and need to reboot – the other accessories have connected to my network and worked right out of the box…

Not these light strips… I went through the setup process 5 times (in their app which SUCKS) and every time it failed and told me to start over…

No thanks… I’ll now be looking for an LED light strip that works from a company that supports their product. Multiple e-mails now to Meross and ZERO replies…
