I just purchased my second color bulb. Also have two white ambiance in the bedroom and two white lights in the TV room. First, you have to buy a Hue Bridge to get these to work. The Bridge is a one time purchase that will support up to 50 lights. Second these are expensive but giving the product a bad review because of the price is ridiculous as is giving a bad review because a Bridge is required. Finally you have to have an internet signal to the light for it to work.
Now for the lights themselves. I have these in multiple rooms, have moved lights around, and made multiple changes to the way I grouped these in the app. All of mine have worked flawlessly. We use the Echo Dot throughout our home and the lights are simple to control via Alexa as long as you use the correct name (remember a table lamp and a table light are different to Alexa).
So what can you do with the Hue lights? Turn lights on/off remotely from your phone. Set colors to accent a room (great for football games using team colors). Set lights to come on when your return home so you don’t have a dark house – I have mine turn when my phone shows I’m about a mile away and limit to turn on only after sunset. Just purchased a $2 app that had a fireworks program and changes the lights to your music. Adjust the colors, shades of white, and brightness from the app or through Alexa.
My suggestion is to pick an area yo want to try and get a starter kit with a couple of lights. If you are like me, you will quickly come up with new ideas to add more lights to other rooms.

Top Critical Review

I hate having to give a 1 star review for a product I love. I do love the Hue family, I have a lot of their bulbs over my house. However, their customer service for defective devices is TERRIBLE.

I called to submit a warranty claim after this bulb died after 2 months. First, I called, and was talking to a helpful person, who got my email and said she’d start the claim. I’d need pictures of the serial number, and the bulb and they’d send me a shipping label to return. As expected, the email asked for pictures of the serial number and product number which I sent. 3 days later I received another email asking for more information, was the bulb used indoors/outdoors (indoors), was it used on a dimmer (no), was it used in a lamp or permanent fixture (lamp). I answered all questions, expecting a shipping label. Instead, I got ANOTHER email from support. What type of material was the lamp made out of? What type of material was the fixture made out of? How many hours a day was the product used? Can I have pictures of the lamp in question?

I don’t understand why this process has to be so complicated just to return a defective bulb. Phillips Hue is a great line of product, Phillips customer support is AWFUL.

What is the standby power consumption on these bulbs?
Answer:

The Philips Hue Website lists their standby power consumption as .2 watts. This is significantly less power than many other smart bulbs, such as LIFX which depending on the bulb use .7-1.7 watts in standby. When in use no more power than the average led bulb. Using the smart bulb features can easily make up for the sta??

Why is the california sku 13 dollars more?
Answer: Due to California label requirements, some of our products are now available in two different types of packaging. Regardless, the product inside the packaging remains the same. Please contact the retailer for questions about pricing, as the final product price is up to the retailer.

are these the 3rd generation bulbs?
Answer: I received to different models, LCT014, and LCT016. Both appear to be 3rd gen though. Slightly different builds. One seems to be more plastic than the other. Lighter weight.
