Well I know these are made for a television but I actually used them in my kitchen under the cabinets. I had originally bought LED light strips on a roll from Sengled but they didn’t work out due to the layout of my cabinets and for the fact that I didn’t want to cut notches under my cabinets.
These modular strips worked perfectly! I ended up buying two so that I could just easily plug them in without them being seen on each side. Sengled’s app is great because you can group them together and control the whole room or individuals. Very easy to use and set up. Honestly, the hardest part about installation was probably just trying to pull the brown paper off the sticky part.
I was worried at first because the description said no white but they do a few variations of white that I find acceptable. It’s not a true white as it’s RGB but it works and I’m particularly fond of the cool white.

I bought these light bars because I wanted to see how I would like the effect behind my television. All in all, they were pretty decent.
Setup out of the box was easy, literally plug and play. It take 30 seconds to connect to the Sengled app, and after that it was good to go. They were a little thicker than I expected and I could not place them behind my television because the mount in which I had did not provide enough clearance. I ended up putting them as accent lights on top of bookcases I have on each side of the television. —-Setup:9/10.
That location was fine, but about a week in,I realized they werent really that bright. The light options are obviously RGB and everything in between, but I really only used cool white. —Brightness:6/10
I ended up buying different lights for the living room and moved these to a Television in a bedroom where it is NOT wall mounted. That made a huge difference. With the TV being about a 2′ away from the Wall, I can say the light actually reaches very well when given the appropriate room.So i would definitely recommend using these where you have room to spare behind the set.
The overall lights do feel a little cheap. Very thin plastic housing, a flimsy smoked piece of plastic as a diffuser, and when compare to light bars such as the Phillips Hue lights… these look and feel pretty sad. Now if you don’t want to spend 130$ On Phillips, And you just want some lights for your TV, I would recommend the Sengled RGB LED strip. Those will spread more light regardless if your TV is mounted or not. One selling point Sengled tried to make is with “Audio Sync” which is essentially just sound activation…which honestly does nothing to enhance your viewing experience, and it seems rather gimmicky. Very flashy colors, and just very distracting.
For a budget, I would recommend the LED strip simply because of form factor, and light distribution in tight spaces and the strip can fit anywhere. If you want really the light bar build, good color gradient and BRIGHT colors, and the possibility to sync the lights with what’s on the screen, I would recommend spending the extra 60$ and invest in the Phillips hue play lights bars.
