These were the only bulbs I could find with a rating for High Lumen. I have others that say they are 13 watt and these do seem brighter. If you’re looking for the brightest smart bulbs you can find, you’ve found them, at least at this time. I’m hoping that technology continues to give us more options in the future.

Install worked fine with the Smart Life app, but I’ve used it before so I’m sure that helped. The instructions weren’t clear but after you’ve downloaded the app and registered you’ll want to press the + in the top right corner and then select lighting. Of the many “Light Source” options, choose “Light Source (Wi-Fi)”. I think the rest of the directions are fine.

Warning!!! Out of the box of 4 bulbs, 2 had a pretty loud hum. It may not have bothered others but that type of thing really irritates me. I returned them and tried again because the light seemed brighter than what I had and there really aren’t any other options yet. The second box of 4 were much better. They arrived cold (it’s winter) but the tiny hum I could hear disappeared after a few minutes. I think warming up with use may have helped. There was no problem with the exchange!

I’m not new to this stuff. I’ve got many devices from multiple companies. These are the first from Khsuin (never heard of them before). I have just gotten these bulbs in today. I already had the ‘Smart Life’ app installed on my phone, so I fired it up and went through the procedure. These bulbs apparently want you to cycle them on and off again a few times to get them into blinking mode for pairing. Fair enough.

I have a Synology RT2600ac router. (5 + 2.4 ghz with auto-switching and a single name). Everything has always worked. The documentation is VERY sparse. The first challenge (as always with this app) was to figure out which device to actually click on to start this pairing process. For me, the most generic of devices worked the best. I was able to get my first bulb to successfully pair with Others –> Others. But it wasn’t easy. It was VERY hit or miss. Most times, it would sit on the ‘Scan devices’ step and time out. But every once in a while, randomly, it would progress onto ‘Register on Cloud’. When it did this, the bulb would always finish completely and I’d be good. I believe the problem might be a problem registering these bulbs with the cloud servers. If they aren’t responsive, this process doesn’t work. If they are, it does. It’s spotty, there isn’t anything I can do about it, and it’s incredibly frustrating. You can even see it listed in the router as a device. But the app on the phone just isn’t advancing through the ‘setup’. Frustrating.

But it will eventually. I just have to keep trying over and over again until I give the magic incantation.

I haven’t actually used them for any length of time to comment on their effectiveness as light bulbs, unfortunately.
