Answer: There is no discernible delay.

Yes, the lamp does have to have power to it. We haven’t yet managed to get lamps that don’t need power! But these bulbs can be easily controlled by the remote control, even when they’re covered with a glass dome. I’m very pleased with mine, I like the soft warm light that I usually have it set to- but if you like extra??
