Top Positive Review

Well… Despite the mixed reviews, I bought these wifi smart bulbs for recessed ceiling fixtures. Of course, you need to know what you are buying before you buy it. These bulbs are not for chandeliers. These bulbs are not for lamps. These bulbs are for recessed ceiling lights. Ok…

Installation (easy if you take it one step at a time)
– download the smart life app by Tuya… Available for iOS and Android. Easy.
– Register. Username, password… Easy.
– Install the bulbs… Unscrew old bulbs, screw in new bulbs. Easy.
– Put your lights into pairing mode by switching the light switch a few times finishing in the “on” position (the lights will then flash continuously indicating ready for the next step… Feels a little like a disco when pairing 4 lights in the same room at the same time). Easy.
– Open the smart life app. Easy.
– Select target room (e.g. bedroom)… Customize through room management option if desired.
– Click “+” to add new devices… Choose lighting category, then lighting (wifi). Easy.
– Follow instructions… Select your WiFi network SSID, enter your WiFi password. Easy.
– Wait for it. ?????. Lights stop blinking. And lights are listed individually in the app. Easy.
– Group the lights. Name the the group.
– Open Alexa app. Add the “Smart Life” skill. Easy.
– Detect new devices. Easy.
– Follow instructions. Easy.

What’s cool:
– Different shades of white. Florescent, warm, soft… Easily match the other recessed lights for consistency. (Taking care that the wife isn’t annoyed by our gadgetry)
– Millions of color options… (So the kids can have fun with their friends)
– control through phone or Alexa… Easy.
– turn off at the switch… Return to last color setting when turned back on.
– put on schedule/timer when away

What’s not cool:
– Not sure yet… My wife’s not really impressed… Just wait till I lay down some Bee Gees tracks and put these babies into music mode… Ha!!

Top Critical Review

This is a horrible light, It does not easily connect with Alexa, that is misleading. You have to download their app, create an account, spend ten minutes flicking the light on and off to get it go into setup mode, then if might flash once or twice and you need it to be flashing twice, then when it tries to connect to wifi, it’s only 2.4G not a normal 5G network like everyone past the year 2007 has. I have lots of smart lights, they usually automatically connect through the Alexa App. After 40 minutes of trying to connect 1 light, I gave up and decided to return this horrible product and go on with my day.

Customer Questions & Answers

What is the name of the app it uses?
Answer: Smart life

Do these fade on and fade off when power is applied or removed?
Answer: You can fade each bulb individually or as a group via the app. OK, as re-read the question, I think you’re referring to the on and off of the lights, they are instant on and off.

How do I get them back to normal when a family member flips the switch on and off several times, causing them to blink?
Answer: I think you would have to open the app and reset them. Flipping them on and off several times is the method used for resetting the lights to your wi-fi.
